Artisan Card Malibongwe Shangase

The Woza Moya Artist’s Card initiative helps our local artists earn an ongoing passive income.

Malibongwe Shangase, joins Woza Moya from the African Art Centre and was our featured artist of April 2024. Malibongwe is a full time artist who produces works on paper in the form of woodcuts and oil pastels. He has travelled extensively and has exhibited his work in South Africa, Switzerland and Berlin. Malibongwe enjoys talking about his life and his interest in the community in which he lives. He often explores the theme of “what’s going on inside the houses in the township?”

Woza Moya, an income generation project of the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trusts, assists over 350 crafters impacted by HIV helping them earn a sustainable income. Woza Moya  makes exceptional crafts that are traditionally inspired and are a reflection of the unique culture and heritage
